DUBAI — Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority has doubled the size of its venture capital fund Oraseya Capital to AED 1 billion (~$272 million), up from AED 500 million.
The expansion comes with structural changes. The maximum cheque rises from $3 million to $6 million, and the mandate widens from UAE-linked companies to global companies of strategic relevance to the UAE. Oraseya invests across AI, fintech, proptech and cleantech.
Oraseya's portfolio companies have raised $1.1 billion combined. MAGNiTT ranked it the most active UAE investor by deal count for the third consecutive year in H1 2026, making the fund one of the most persistent sources of early-stage capital in the country.
The doubling is a signal about how Dubai intends to supply venture capital. Rather than waiting for private managers to fill the gap, the emirate's economic zones authority is scaling its own vehicle and pointing it outward, using cheques of up to $6 million as an instrument to pull globally relevant companies toward the UAE.
Watch for the first non-UAE-headquartered investments under the widened mandate, and whether the $6 million ceiling pulls Oraseya into Series A leads rather than follow-ons. Also watch whether other Dubai government arms respond with comparable vehicles.
Dubai Media Office first reported the expansion.
