Dubai proptech Silkhaus reportedly winds down UAE short-term rentals
Owner agreements terminate 11 November, staff are posting goodbyes, and Seraya is already courting the stranded supply.

DUBAI — Silkhaus, the venture-backed short-term rentals operator, is reportedly winding down its UAE business, with owner agreements terminating on 11 November, according to FWDStart. The company has not confirmed.
The evidence is circumstantial but consistent: employee LinkedIn posts, notices to property owners, and a booking system that cuts off after the termination date. Silkhaus was founded in Dubai in 2021 by Aahan Bhojani and Ashmin Varma, raised a $7.75 million seed in November 2022, added Partners for Growth debt in early 2024, and took a seven-figure round from Nuwa Capital and Oraseya Capital in January 2025 for a Saudi expansion that has already quietly ended.
The read-across is uncomfortable. Sonder's collapse showed what happens when master-lease hospitality models meet soft demand, and the Gulf's furnished-stay segment has absorbed a lot of venture money on similar physics.
The bear case on the sector is now a pattern, not an event: Silkhaus winding down in the same month e& marks down its Careem stake is what a correction looks like from the inside.
Watch the salvage operation. Seraya's co-founder Ibrahim Shami is already courting stranded owners and staff publicly, and the winner of that scramble inherits the segment's supply overnight.
FWDStart reported the wind-down.
