RIYADH — Saudi Eksab has made the first deployment under its international investment mandate, anchoring the IDC Impact Fund alongside IDB Invest, CAF and the IDC Network. The fund, managed by Valante Capital, will invest in consumer, food, distribution and retail businesses across Central America and the Caribbean. No fund size was disclosed.
The anchor commitment puts a Saudi sovereign-adjacent investor at the base of a Latin America-focused vehicle, a reversal of the usual flow in which Gulf funds court international LPs for regional strategies. For Saudi Eksab, the move opens a mandate that had previously been pointed inward.
Impact private equity in Central America and the Caribbean has long drawn multilateral backing, with IDB Invest and CAF both regular participants in the region's small-cap funds. Adding a Gulf anchor gives the vehicle a new capital source and gives Riyadh a foothold in a market where Saudi institutions have rarely appeared on fund rosters. The structure also shows Saudi outbound capital diversifying beyond trophy assets and venture funds into development-linked private equity.
Watch whether other Saudi institutions follow Eksab into Latin American vehicles, and whether the fund discloses a target size at first close. Zawya first reported the launch.
