MANAMA — Tanami, the Bahrain-based digital private-markets investment platform, has closed a new undisclosed round to fund its expansion into Qatar, Wamda reports, with the announcement landing around Money20/20 Middle East in Riyadh.
Participants included stc group's tali ventures, Qatar Development Bank and the UK's 1818 Ventures plus other strategic investors, with no stated lead. Tanami was founded in 2023 by Nawaf Almaskati and Faisal Aljalahma, launched in Bahrain in 2025 under a Central Bank of Bahrain licence, and has since added a Saudi CMA licence. Its chairman is Talal Al Zain, the former Mumtalakat chief executive.
Tanami positions itself as an access layer to private markets for the region's investors, a category that has drawn growing Gulf regulatory and institutional attention as retail and family-office money looks beyond public markets. A Saudi CMA licence alongside its Bahrain base gives it the two deepest Gulf pools of private wealth, and Qatar is the logical third.
The read: the investor mix is the market map: a Saudi CVC, a Qatari state fund and a UK venture firm is a three-corridor expansion financed by the destinations themselves. Private-markets access platforms live on distribution partnerships, so watch for Tanami's first Qatari bank or brokerage integration as the proof the round is working.
